Today's Hero of the Week  has dedicated his life to ensuring that all children have access to the sports equipment they need to be happy, active, and safe. His name is Rob Palmisano, and you can find him online at All Kids Should Play and Facebook.

It all started when Robbie heard that a school close to his home in Baltimore had closets full of roller skates in many shapes, colors and sizes. They had been sitting in the closets, dusty and unused for years, and were destined for the dumpster. Not wanting to see them discarded, he decided to find a better use for them.  He made many phone calls over the course of the following week before identifying a recreation center located in a community in Baltimore City that had unlimited needs for sports equipment for their after school and summer children's sports programs. They delivered the first truckload of roller skates with the assistance of the very appreciative recreation center director.  When they delivered the remaining roller skates, children of all ages ran to greet Robbie and to assist. 

That was the moment he knew that he had to continue what the generosity of others had started.
