About this time every summer, we do a special episode about keeping kids safe for the summer.  And it has become an annual tradition to bring back one of our favorite experts on the subject, Hero of the Week Hall of Famer, Olivia Keith.

This Indiana 7th grader runs two non-profits designed to help other kids. In December of last year, Olivia received the Jefferson Award for community service.

Her organization called Play It Safe to educates children about safety on the streets, on playgrounds, and in everyday situations. Olivia was crowned 2015's Miss Indiana Preteen National Teenager and appears in the National Role Model Calendar for her work with Play It Safe.

Late last year, Olivia received more than $3,000 in grant money from the United Way. That's good, because her second non-profit, called "Don't Waist Your Belt," is well underway. She has collected nearly 2,000 belts after finding out local IPS students were facing uniform suspensions because they didn't have belts to wear. She's aiming to collect 3,000 more this year.
