On today's show, Adrian and Ethan talk about keeping our children safe from injury during the summer months.

Summer is a favorite time of year for many children - no school, warm weather, and maybe even a vacation. Help make sure your children have a fun, safe summer by reviewing some tips to prevent injury.

Preventable injuries are the #1 killer of kids in America. Millions more children are injured every year.

According to the CDC, approximately 12,000 children and young adults, ages 1 to 19 years, die from unintentional injuries each year. When a child dies, the lives of families are changed forever.

Each year in the United States, about half a million kids are seriously injured in bicycle-related accidents, and most of those injuries could have been avoided.

Falls are the most common type of playground injury, accounting for more than 75 percent of all playground-related injuries. Lack of or improper supervision is associated with approximately 45 percent of playground-related injuries.

With an estimated 25 million scholastic, and another 20 million organized community-based youth sports programs in the United States, the opportunity for injury is enormous.

This is why sports injuries are the second leading cause of emergency room visits for children and adolescents, and the second leading cause of injuries in school.
