Let's go back in time. On September 21 of 2009, 8-year-old Olivia Russo-Hood lost her home, her school, and everything she owned to the massive and Presidentially-declared disastrous floods that nearly washed Austell, GA off the map. Ten people died. More than 20,000 homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed. But Olivia didn't just want to rebuild her own life, or her own home, or her own community. Olivia wanted to help the whole world. So, with her mom Denise and her brother Vincent by her side, she created S.T.E.P., which stands for "Save the Earth Projects."

Olivia's many honors include the Prudential Spirit of the Community Award, a letter from President Obama thanking her for her dedicated community service, being an honoree for the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, and too many others to list. She just became the 2nd place recipient of the International Young Eco-Heroes Award, and received the Visionary Award as the only child honored this year for the Warrick Dunn Charities Beauty of Business and Giving Community Angels Awards.

Olivia joins us today to tell us about what S.T.E.P. is and how it works!
